Welcome to the website of the Eastern Suburban Youth Baseball League or ESYBL!!  We are located about 20 miles east of Madison, Wisconsin scattered along the I-94 corridor.  ESYBL currently comprises of 4 local youth baseball associations - Cambridge, Deerfield, Marshall, and Waterloo for a total of 26 teams - 13 National League and 13 American League.

The age range is from 8 - 12 years old divided into two leagues that are age and skill based.  The older, more experienced and skilled players are part of the National League.  The age range is 10 to 12 years old but primarily consists of 11 and 12 year olds.  The American League are younger and lesser experienced players in the age range of 8 - 11 years but comprises mostly of 9 and 10 year olds.

 Our season runs from the end of May to the end of July.  There are usually two games per week and standings are kept.  The standings are used to determine seedings for the ESYBL Tournament at the end of the season.
Both leagues are competitive but fun.  Teams play each other once in a round robin fashion.  Rules are based on Little League® Rules with some variations.
All-Star, Club, or Select teams are not allowed for regular season & ESYBL Tournament competition in the ESYBL.  Teams are created from a pool of registrations performed by each local organization.  They can be created by try-outs, random or other fair means that have a balanced goal of even & fair competition in mind - no stacked teams!

Hellenbrand Implement - 2006 ESYBL American League Tournament 3rd Place

Marshall Sweeps 1st Place Trophies - Munson Drywall survived a late rally from the Cambridge Brewers to take the National League championship in the first ever ESYBL Tournament 7 - 5.  The Brewers took home 2nd Place.  In the 3rd Place game, American Legion scored big in the first inning and coasted the rest of the game before Hellenbrand Ace came back back but fell short by one run.

The American League Championship took place in Marshall on Tuesday night in between a delay for lightning and a rain the ranged from a steady mist to short spurts of down pour.

On the field, in an absolute CLASSIC game, 7th seed, Lake City Mechanical defeated 3rd seed, Hellenbrand Implement, in 8 innings 5-4 to advance to the championship game against 5th seed, Paul’s Turf who upset the top seed of the tourney, Jack Safro Ford, 5-1.

Then in the championship game, Lake City used their momentum to steamroll through one big inning that was the difference in the game as they beat Paul’s Turf 7-3.  In the third place game, Hellenbrand Implement jumped out early and cruised to a 7-1 win over Jack Safro Ford to take home the third place hardware.

There must have been some magic in the uniforms as both Marshall teams that donned the grey and red uniforms emerged victorious as champions of both the National and American League.  We’ll see if there is a rush to claim those uniforms next season...

The 2006 Season is officially over!!!  Thanks to all players, coaches, volunteers, parents, and sponsors for making the inaugural season of the Eastern Suburban Youth Baseball League a huge success.  And thank-you to the local youth sports organizations - Cambridge, Deerfield, Marshall, and Waterloo whose time and dedication in putting this league together in a very short time is nothing short of fantastic...

Kids - we'll see you in Spring of 2007!!!

National League Description
League Age: 10 - 12 years
Skill Level: High
National League is the most competitive of the 2 leagues.  It's primarily made up of athletes ages 11 & 12 with a smaller number of highly skilled 10 year olds.  Pitchers are faster and stealing is allowed anytime after the ball crosses the plate.  National Leaguers are very skilled players and should know baseball fundamentals.

League Age is the age of the child as of August 1, 2006.

American League Description
League Age: 8 - 12 years
Skill Level: Medium
American League is an instructional league.  Baseball fundamentals are stressed and reenforced.  The league is designed for younger athletes and those children who want or need to develop skills necessary to successfully participate in the National League.  There are no walks in the American League - instead on ball four, the batter is given the ball to toss up and hit.  The strike count is maintained so if there are 2 strikes and the child misses the toss up throw, then it is a strikeout.  The age range for American Leaguers are from 8 - 12 but is primarily comprised of 9 & 10 year olds.
